Effects on Maternal-Infant Attatchment of Primary Gravida by Prenatal Class

Abstract
This study was conducted to identify the effects on maternal-infant attatchment of primary garavida by prenatal class.
The study subjects were 38 antepartum women who had attended prenatal class and 30 antepartum women who did¡¯t have prenatal educations. Number of total subjects were 68.
Data was collected from women who visited a public health center in one city of Chungnam using questionnaires from March 5 to May 30, 2006.
SAS/PC program was used for data analysis.
: Chi-square test, t-test, paired t-tsst, Pearson correlation coefficient.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. The maternal-fetal attachment was higher after attending the prenatal class than before (p=0.002).
2. The primary delivered women who attended the prenatal class revealed higher materna-infantl attachment than didn¡¯t participate the class (p=0.001).
The results of this study indicated that prenatal education needs to be developed and applied to nursing practice to incease maternal-infant attachment.
